The Lab Challenge – Energy Hack Battle 24H
Ubikly - EN
The Lab Challenge is a high-energy 24-hour “engineering hack battle” where teams compete to design, prototype, and pitch a functional solution around a real-world energy problem.
Upcoming sessions :
- June 16, 2026 of 9:00 am to 8:00 pm
This year’s theme:
Participants will have access to the full FabLab — 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, microcontrollers, and electronic components — to bring their ideas to life under time pressure. It’s not just about creativity: it’s about engineering efficiency, teamwork, and rapid problem-solving.
- Encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration among engineers, designers, and developers.
- Promote rapid prototyping skills and practical innovation.
- Showcase how FabLab tools enable real, testable solutions to energy challenges.
- Inspire creative thinking around sustainable technologies.
- Teams of 3–5 participants (mix of mechanical, electrical, and software backgrounds recommended).
- Time limit: 24 hours to design, prototype, and present a working concept.
- All parts must be fabricated in the FabLab (3D printing, laser cutting, CNC, or electronics assembly).
- External pre-made kits are allowed only for sensors or controllers.
- Jury evaluates based on:
Innovation (originality of the idea) Functionality (working prototype or proof of concept) Design quality (efficiency, manufacturability, aesthetics) Pitch presentation (clarity, teamwork, impact)
